I actively seek out and promote artwork featuring board games of any kind. From baroque paintings to pop culture references. The usage of board games as a tool within a narrative is a long standing trope. Board games often function as a motif to show great intelligence (oftentimes through chess), but in equal measure it is often used to humanize characters by showing them during leisure time. They say you know a person better in 10 minutes of play than 10 years of discourse.
We see board games in ancient artwork, Egyptian Senate, Greek Petteia, and Japanese Shogi, but also see it just as often in modern science fiction like Star Wars and Star Trek.
